1) Remote Access...without
a VPN !
Remote
Access – Redefined. No Server. No VPN
Application.
Remote Access can be a nightmare for
users and IT Administrators. Difficult
to configure, expensive to install and
maintain and always a different way for
users to work when outside the office.
Not any more.
KoolSpan has fulfilled the promise of
remote access without a Virtual Private
Network (VPN), providing companies of
all sizes and their users with trusted
connections to data, networks and
people. KoolSpan provides Remote Access
without the limitations, infrastructure,
and complexity required by most VPNs.
KoolSpan’s powerful solution allows
users to securely access any network
application from any location, thus
stretching the reach of the internal
network to the user. Remote users
function on the network as if they never
left the office, regardless of whether
the user is accessing the network
wirelessly, using VoIP, or running a
business application.
True
LAN Peer Connectivity
Avoiding the complexity of IPSec
solutions and the limitations of SSL
solutions, the revolutionary KoolSpan
connection technology places the user on
the LAN as a local
user regardless
of where the user is or how the user
connects. Total security and total
access from a hotspot, hotel or home.
Users for the first time can connect to
the network with absolutely identical
connectivity to users inside the
network. The solution requires no heavy
VPN gateway appliance or server and can
be set up in minutes providing 256-bit
AES security with per-packet keying.
Security is only as good as it is easy
to use.
How It
Works
The KoolSpan Remote Access solution
consists of a user token (Key) and a
small network device (Lock) each of
which contain embedded Smart Cards. The
Smart Cards enable "keyless
exchange" and mutual
authentication. The Lock-and-Key
combination provides a totally secure,
Layer-2 connection between the user’s
computer and the network that just
works... the first time and every time!
No VPN application to configure or run,
no complex VPN appliance to install,
configure and maintain.
The only configuration is to enable a
single port in the firewall or router to
forward KoolSpan traffic to the Lock.
The Lock blocks access to the network
from anyone who doesn’t have a valid
key.
More than Remote Access alone, the
unique design of the Lock allows it to simultaneously
authenticate
users from local wireless connections and
from
remote connections across the Internet
making it the first security solution to
simultaneously support both wireless and
remote users.
Best of all, KoolSpan provides
256-bit AES security regardless of the
capabilities of their Wi-Fi equipment.
KoolSpan works
with all Wi-Fi hardware,
past, present and future!

Identical
Connectivity
On insertion of the user’s Key, the
KoolSpan solution presents the user with
the same interface whether inside the
network or connecting from a remote
location. No other solution provides this
level of consistency.
No training required, no VPN Client
to configure, KoolSpan is elegantly
simple.
After authentication, a Virtual Ethernet
Adapter is spawned on the user’s
machine that obtains a local IP address
on the remote network. Unlike a VPN
appliance that proxy’s the user onto
the LAN, KoolSpan users are connected as
true LAN peers. No special roles or
policies to set up, no special
configurations to maintain. Mapped
drives, VoIP and other business
applications work the same in the field
as they do inside the network.

Secure
& Simplified VoIP with
Single IP-PBX
KoolSpan
secures VoIP communications
KoolSpan secures VoIP communications
and dramatically reduces the cost and
complexity of deploying IP telephony.
Designed to protect and extend an
enterprise VoIP network to any location,
KoolSpan operates without any
modification to VoIP protocols or
equipment.
KoolSpan enables the enterprise to
realize VoIP’s promise of exceptional
cost savings. A single IP-PBX can
easily serve multiple locations and
remote users without any equipment
replication in the field. Compatible
with all networking and telephony
equipment, KoolSpan’s operation is
transparent to its users.
• Strong
Security –
256-bit AES encryption with per packet
keying
• NAT
Traversal Resolved –
All callers are always local to the
IP-PBX from anywhere
• VoIP
ROI: Expansion Without Replication –
One IP-PBX, serve multiple sites
• Internal
Extensions Everywhere –
Internal extensions work across any
network
• Soft
Phones Simplified –
One-time configuration, regardless of
connection location
• Beyond
Voice –
Leverage the same security
architecture for non-voice data
Strongest
Security Available
As VoIP is a well-defined protocol,
eavesdropping is very easy and one of
the most difficult challenges for the
enterprise. With KoolSpan all
communication between the IP-PBX and its
extensions, whether they are physical
phones or soft phones, are protected by
mutual authentication and 256-bit AES
encryption with per-packet keying.
Because the connection is secure
before a VoIP call is even established,
the entire session is fully protected at
every step. KoolSpan provides Layer 2,
on-chip Ethernet encryption, which
results in transparent operation to
higher-level VoIP protocols and
applications. As the AES algorithm
encrypts without expanding the size of
the source data, there is no impact on
performance or speed.
